People think that confronting someone is automatically an act of aggression but it shouldn’t be. Communicate face to face, smile, apologise that you have to say anything, but… blah, blah, blah. Keep it light and acknowledge the trivial nature of the problem. You don’t want them walking off in a huff saying “I was only humming”. This is the mature approach.
